1/2" hex socket head shoulder bolts in 18-8 Stainless Steel to ASME B18.3. A shoulder bolt — also called a shoulder screw or stripper bolt — has a precision-ground unthreaded shoulder between the head and a smaller thread. The shoulder is the working surface: it locates and pivots, letting a bushing, bearing, roller, linkage or stripper plate turn or slide on it while the thread below anchors into the tapped hole. Because the shoulder bottoms against the mounting face, clamp load never reaches the moving part, so the joint can be tightened fully without binding it. Standard in jigs and fixtures, stamping dies, conveyors, robotics and machine guarding. The thread is one standard size below the shoulder: 1/2" shoulder, 3/8-16 thread. Length is the ground shoulder length measured under the head; the 5/8" thread is additional. 11 shoulder lengths (3/8" to 3-1/2"). Sold in bulk multiples.
