#8 x 1/2" Phillips Modified Truss Head Self Drilling Screws #2 Drill Point Zinc-Plated Steel

#8 x 1/2" Phillips modified truss head self drilling screws (tek screws) with a #2 drill point, in case-hardened steel to SAE J78. The drill point cuts its own hole and the self-drilling thread (8-18) taps it in one step, with no pilot hole, in steel about 0.035" to 0.100" thick (20 to 12 ga). The modified truss head is low and wide, like a built-in washer, so it clamps thin sheet and sits low; it is widely used for steel studs and track. It has a #2 Phillips recess. A clear zinc plating gives light corrosion protection for indoor or dry locations. Case-hardened carbon steel is hard enough for the point to drill steel reliably. Sold in production-volume bulk packs.
